Hi! I'm Abigail. The core theme of my work is understanding environmental governance under environmental change. I've investigated topics such as the complexities of emerging issues in community forestry in Nepal, climate change adaptation in the Colorado River Basin, and aquatic invasive species in midwestern U.S. lakes.
Prior to joining the Environmental Protection Agency, I was an assistant professor at Boston University and a research scientist at Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute. I earned my Ph.D. in environmental social science from Arizona State University, an MS in ecology and environmental science from the University of Maine, and a BS in environmental science from Unity College. I was a postdoctoral research associate at Arizona State University’s Decision Center for a Desert City.
I'm passionate about mixed-methods social science and I think transdisciplinary research is key to a just future on earth. See some of my and my co-authors' thoughts on that topic, including the challenges of pursuing transdisciplinary research as an early-career individual here: https://doi.org/10.1525/elementa.2020.00132 (open access article)
